Idyllwild has a unique charm - mountain town meets art. It’s made it onto the top 100 Best Small Art Towns of America and is home to the world famous Idyllwild Arts Academy. Check out the galleries, shops and boutiques - all locally owned and managed. Walk around and explore the outside art and sculpture, see if you can find the painted deer and follow their path.
Don’t miss a visit to the Idyllwild Historical Society Museum - it’s a fun treat. Or look for the local Mayor Max (he’s a dog, he even wears a tie), or track down the infamous Idyll Beast.
Hiking and Adventure : There is a ton of great hiking here! One of our favorites (and kid-friendly) is the Ernie Maxwell Scenic Trail just before Humber Park. In our welcome binder at the cottage you’ll find an Idyllwild Area Trailheads map and an Explore Idyllwild map. Take a look and find some trails that speak to you. We supply Adventure Passes so can explore some of the areas that require day permits.
Idyllwild also has a lot of fun Festivals and Activities throughout the year. Check out idyllwild.com to see what’s happening during your stay.
